Honesdale, PA – The Board of The John and Helen Villaume Foundation announced that the Greater Honesdale Partnership was selected to receive one of the Foundation’s 2021 community grant awards. Maria Montoro Edwards, PhD., on behalf of the Maternal and Family Health Services, Inc., was on hand to receive a check for $7,500.00 from Villaume Foundation board member, Paul Edwards.

Maternal and Family Health Services, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of families in Northeastern Pennsylvania by preventing disease, promoting wellness, and empowering individuals to realize the promise of better health.    The Villaume grant will be used to support the Nurse-Family Partnership Program in Wayne County which is projected to assist 26 at risk mothers achieving better pregnancy outcomes, improving child health and development and helping families become self-sufficient. The John and Helen Villaume Foundation established by Honesdale natives, John and Helen Villaume, is dedicated to benefit charitable, religious, scientific, literary and educational programs within Wayne County.  Since its inception, the Foundation has made awards totaling over $2,000,000.00 with Wayne Bank managing the account in the Wealth Management and Trust Services Division of Wayne Bank.
