Honesdale, PA – Jim Donnelly, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Wayne Bank, is pleased to announce that Wayne Bank has supported the Pocono Mountains United Way with a donation through the Educational Improvement Pre-K Program.

According to the Pocono Mountains United Way, of the over 2,300 children who are eligible for Pre-K in Monroe County, 77% of them do not have access to high quality funded Pre-K programs.  They advocate at the local and state levels for opportunities for all young children in Monroe County to develop the skills and abilities they need to thrive in school.  The Educational Improvement Pre-K Program helps children receive the skills and abilities they need to be successful in school for when they start their official year of kindergarten.  If they are prepared for this, they will have the essential qualities to achieve success and reach their goals in their later years of school as well.  It is truly important for all children to have the opportunity to learn and be ready for kindergarten.  With the support of this Pre-K program, this goal is possible.

Pocono Mountain United Way President & CEO, Michael Tukeva, and Director of Resource Development, Todd Nemura, accepted a check in the amount of $6,250 from Mr. Donnelly.

“We are so pleased to be able to offer this donation to the United Way of the Pocono Mountains.  Wayne Bank is proud to support the outstanding work of the United Way and is glad to know that through this donation, the families, and specifically the children, of Monroe County that are in need will receive the assistance and support they require,” stated Mr. Donnelly.

The gift was made possible as a result of the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program offered by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, acting through the Department of Community and Economic Development.

The Pocono Mountains United Way assists individuals and families in need in Monroe County through increased collaboration, efficiency, and impact. The staff and board of directors are committed to improving the lives of individuals, working families, and children.
