Several Organizations serving Wayne County Receive Grants in 2020 From Villaume Foundation

Honesdale, Pa – The Board of The John and Helen Villaume Foundation recently awarded grants to several organizations serving the Wayne County area.

The Wayne County Community Foundation was among the organizations awarded grants for projects serving Wayne County. The grant of $7,500.00 will be used for its new “Circle of Aunts and Uncles” program. This new program will provide low-interest loans and social capital to under-resourced entrepreneurs who are leading or growing local business.

The Northeastern Pennsylvania Council, BSA was also awarded a grant of $7,500.00 to assist with the costs associated with renovations to the Goose Pond Scout Reservation near Lake Wallenpaupack.

The United Way of Lackawanna and Wayne Counties was awarded a grant in the amount of $10,000.00 for Wayne County families in need of housing assistance, particularly in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Great Wall of Honesdale received a grant in the amount of $3,000.00 to be used for the “Artists Fund”. The fund was established to assist artists in need means with the costs associated with having their artwork displayed on The Great Wall of Honesdale.

The John and Helen Villaume Foundation, established by Honesdale natives, John and Helen Villaume, is dedicated to benefit charitable, religious, scientific, literary and educational programs within Wayne County. Since its inception, the Foundation has made awards totaling over $1,800,000.00 with Wayne Bank managing the account in the Wealth Management and Trust Services Division of Wayne Bank.
