Honesdale, PA – Jim Donnelly, President and Chief Executive Officer of Wayne Bank, is pleased to announce that Wayne Bank has supported Pocono Services for Families and Children, Inc. (PSFC) with a donation through the Educational Improvement Pre-K Program.
PSFC serves more than 300 children in classrooms around Monroe County. They are a year-round operation benefiting children ranging in age from babies to teens. Their vision is to be recognized as Monroe County’s foremost educator and provider of child-focused services. Pre-K classes are available for ages three to five years old and with the understanding that preschool is most important now more than ever, their teachers concentrate on skills that children will use in kindergarten. Reading, writing, and math-readiness are explored, along with building confidence and fostering independence.
Kristi Hammond, Executive Director of PSFC and Carol Owens, Fiscal Officer for PSFC accepted a check in the amount of $6,250 from Kristen Lancia, CFMP, Wayne Bank Vice President and Marketing Manager and Kim Charner, Stroud Mall Community Office Manager for Wayne Bank.
“We are so pleased to make this contribution to PSFC. Wayne Bank is proud to support the wonderful work of the PSFC. We value their understanding of learning and care in a nurturing environment and support their endeavors to assure all young children receive a quality Pre-K education,” stated Mr. Donnelly.
The gift was made possible as a result of the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program offered by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, acting through the Department of Community and Economic Development.
The Educational Improvement Pre-K Program helps children receive the skills and abilities they need to be successful in school for when they start their official year of kindergarten. If they are prepared for this, they will have the essential qualities to achieve success and reach their goals in their later years of school as well. With the support of this Pre-K program, the goals of Pocono Services for Families and Children are possible.
