Honesdale, PA – Jim Donnelly, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Wayne Bank, is pleased to announce that Wayne Bank has supported the Wyoming Valley United Way with a donation through the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program.
Wyoming Valley United Way ensures children in the Wyoming Valley have access to clean clothes, hygiene and clothing items, eye exams and eyeglasses, and school-based support to assess and address student/family needs to prevent absenteeism. They are focused on the long-term goals to help break the cycle of poverty by addressing the education and health of children, the financial stability of families, and the basic needs of those who face an immediate threat to their well-being.
Wyoming Valley United Way President & CEO, Bill Jones, accepted a check in the amount of $5,000 from Wayne Bank CEO, Jim Donnelly and Wayne Bank Vice President and Marketing Manager, Kristen Lancia, CFMP.
“We believe in investing in our communities, and United Way’s programs for children align with our values. Supporting the United Way of Wyoming Valley is part of our dedication to fostering stronger communities. By contributing to their initiatives, we are helping to provide children with the resources they need to succeed in school and life. We are committed to supporting educational and developmental programs that empower the youth in our communities,” stated Mr. Donnelly.
The gift was made possible as a result of the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program offered by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, acting through the Department of Community and Economic Development.
United Way of Wyoming Valley supports 27 programs across 18 agencies aimed at improving the odds of success for children and families to break the cycle of poverty in our communities. In addition to supporting these programs, the United Way has developed 11 signature initiatives and partnerships with 8 local school districts to address underlying challenges that can keep children, especially those in low-income families, from succeeding. Ultimately, with the help and generosity of the community and donations through the EITC program, they have helped 24,675 individuals, with 17,376 of them being children.
